Transit Dispatcher/Scheduler in Abbotsford/Chilliwack

Transdev Canada is hiring a Casual Transit Dispatcher / Scheduler for our Abbotsford location, with support required in Chilliwack as needed.

As a Casual Transit Dispatcher / Scheduler, you will play an important role in supporting safe, efficient, and reliable transit service by coordinating operator schedules, dispatching service, and responding to real-time operational challenges. This is a fast-paced role where your communication, organization, and decision-making directly support service delivery and the communities we serve.

What you’ll do

Prepare and manage daily driver schedules and vehicle assignments

Dispatch transit operators in accordance with service requirements, policies, and operational needs

Monitor service in real time and respond to operational challenges as they arise

Communicate effectively with drivers, supervisors, and management to support smooth daily operations

Track and input data related to attendance, service delivery, and incidents

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in scheduling and dispatch systems

Assist with coverage planning for vacations, sick days, and unexpected absences

Support HandyDART dispatching and scheduling as required

Assist with emergency response and service recovery plans when needed

Follow all company standards, policies, and procedures

Perform other related duties as requested or required

What you bring

Minimum of two (2) years of dispatch or related experience required, supported by professional references

Minimum Grade 12 education or High School Diploma required

Dispatch training or certification is considered an asset

Experience in dispatching, scheduling, customer service, or a related field is preferred

Experience in transit, logistics, or operations is considered an asset

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dispatch software

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Knowledge of local geography and public transportation systems is considered an asset

Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities while working alone

Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused under pressure

Your location & schedule

This is a casual, on-site, unionized position based in Abbotsford, with work in Chilliwack required as needed.

Availability is required for evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational requirements.
